A Peak into the Peak District

Posted on Saturday 7 November 2009

The Peak District is a perfect getaway from the pressures and tensions of town and city day-to-day living. If you hail from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s accessible in about an hour by train or car and an excellent pick for a weekend break. If you’re driving from further away, we would say it’s good if you can stay in the Peak District for 5 or 6 days as there’s much to discover and do in the Peak District.

A good number of travellers connect the Peak District with the summertime, yet it’s stunning all year round, and in no other area of the UK is the season’s change more emphasised than in the Peak District.

As highlighted earlier, there’s a great deal to get up to in the Peak District. The idyllic scenes entice people out of their cottages and onto long walks, and there’s a great deal of rambling to do - up to 30 well marked routes.

To add to that, there’s also a good deal of areas to try your luck at fishing in the Peak District, especially Ladybower. Even if you’re not into physical activities, drive the car and visit Chatsworth House. At least a few hours at the house is recommended, the gardens in itself you can spend an hour or two in! Or go to Buxton for something to eat in one of their many pubs, and a walk in the pavilion gardens, or the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Finally the Castleton and Hathersage in the Hope Valley which are lovely and well worth the visit.

So how to locate a place to stay in the Peak District? We strongly advocate hiring a Peak District cottage. That way you have the privacy of your own place, and the chance to unwind and relax with your family and friends in an affable surrounding. The most effective way to find cottages is to use a search engine. Use a search term like accommodation in the Peak District and one is sure to find a great deal of possible choices.
