Verizon announced enhancements to its FiOS TV’s Facebook and Twitter widgets, free interactive social TV applications that were recently added to FiOS service. As of the latest updates FiOS customers will be able to send their own Tweets (mini blogs in text format posted to real-time, social network media) and by using an onscreen keyboard could update their Facebook profile.
Verizon is concentrating on adding new functionalities to increase customer experience of social networking. Latest features will help consumers connect with each other using Verizon’s TV service.
“The Widget Bazaar” a newly opened store front serves as an indicator of increased FiOS TV subscribers, including online video streaming, sports stations and social networking websites. This enable FiOS TV users the ability to grab new widgets and applications. Soon, launching of “The Widget Bazaar” to third-partly developers will also commence.
Due to the strong competition among the Triple play operators Verizon remains aggressive with its product offerings (TV, Internet, and voice). They are taking the challenge by continually increasing FiOS TV features and promoting FiOS awareness against other industry players like Satellite TV
The reason behind stable market position of Verizon is it’s FiOS TV and Internet services. The organization keeps widening its area of coverage in the market with FiOS TV offerings. Growing number of FiOS TV subscribers is doing well too, as revealed in the constant increases in the past two quarters of 2009. FiOS telco increased market penetration and the 4G wireless network upgrade has strengthen Verizon’s market rank against its rivals AT&T and Sprint Nextel.
