They can’t calculate the bet odds with any degree of accuracy, so it follows that implied odds will be guesswork at best.
On the other hand, late position players do not need to calculate bet odds. They are in the best position as far as probability goes because they are handed one of the components that they need to calculate implied odds. Late position players only need to pay attention to the cards that have been played in order to have the best mathematical position in the game. They are basically told the odds of their hand, without ever having to lift a finger.
