The Cost Of A New High Definition Television

Posted on Wednesday 4 June 2008

The price of a new HDTV depends on a lot of different factors such as the size of the screen, the technology adopted and even on the manufacturer who produces the high definition television. The superior picture quality depends on the number of pixels on the screen area and the number of lines on the screen. HDTV with six times greater pixel count obviously has a much higher resolution and a superior sound quality and richness. The cost of a new HDTV can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousands of dollars, depending on the cost of the TV, the programming costs and the cost of the accessories.

While the tube of a high definition television (dimensions measuring 30″ - 34″) costs $500 - $1000, the flat panel costs around $1500 - $2500 (dimensions measuring 37″ - 42″) and the projection costs about $1000 - $2000 (dimensions measuring 40″ - 50″). Similarly the cost of programming also varies from one type of programming to another. While ‘over the air’ programming involves the cost of the antenna and costs around $20 - $100, a cable or satellite provider can cost around $5 on a monthly basis and about $200 - $300 for the receiver. Similarly, high definition (Blu-ray) DVD players are the most recent inventions and can cost more than about $1000. The cost of accessories can cost a few hundred dollars. And that’s all.
